In this module Ruby Corvette explores cultural appropriation in burlesque drawing both from her own experiences and those of her POC burlesque and drag community as well as research from diverse sources. Ruby addresses the complexities of cultural appropriation and its harmful impacts, discusses why understanding and avoiding cultural insensitivity is important and how performers can take steps towards contributing to a more diverse and authentic burlesque community.
